Jamie Goldspink

Director / Lead Designer

After landing in the UK from South Africa in 1994, Jamie sought an apprenticeship within the architectural industry. He was adopted by the architectural practice, John M Harris Design Partnership, as a junior technician. In 1997, he began moving between companies as a CAD technician, honing his skills in various engineering sectors.

In 2000, he was invited back to Harris Partnership and helped set up their creative department, which later became Vector Design Concepts. He became director in 2010 and helped VDC become a vital creative partner for a variety of significant retail and industrial brands across the UK.

Never really satisfying his creative itch, Jamie always had other business interests running in parallel. Firstly, an archive drawing management company; then, a hair/nails and beauty salon; a digital signage agency; and a sports nutrition company.

After the birth of his daughter, Mia, he made the hard choice to throw caution to the wind and concentrate his efforts on becoming a freelance creative. After receiving a commission from Hotel Football to produce artwork for a new hotel at Old Trafford, Pickled Spider was born. This led to being commissioned by the Battersea Dogs Trust to design signage and a wayfinding strategy. Thereafter, he secured a variety of longstanding clients from across the globe who enjoyed his rapid response and candid advice.

Being a freelancer, he revelled in getting his hands on a new website build, creating brands, and seeing the signage he'd designed installed.

When he's not colouring in, he's generally found on a tractor tending to his equestrian property or fixing something that the horses have broken.
